“Just before I cut “Good Vibrations” I heard the Rolling Stones track “My Obsession”. I was invited to hear their dub-downs and the record producer Lou Adler gave me some marijuana. They got me all stoned, they laid all this stuff on me and I couldn’t find the door. It wiped me out so much I didn’t know where the door was to get out of the studio. I was just standing there saying, ‘What is this? Hey, play that again.’ And they’d say, ‘No, we can’t. It’s playing now,’ and I’d go, ‘Oh, I see.’ It really was quite an event to be there.”
